2008's celebration of Innisfail's Feast of the Senses highlighted the recovery of our local horticultural industry.
Cyclone Larry annialated my home town on this day just two years ago ... the day we annually celebrate our exotic tropical delights prouduced in the area ...
I recall how the community responded ever so calmly that afternoon ... SES warnings sounded through our streets .. Advising us strongly to go home and batten down.
We are a resilient lot... took us a year to clean the debris and we are still rebuilding to this day .. Larry and his record breaking strength.
I wrote a blog last year on the first anniversary of Cyclone Larry .. this may help you realise why I (and Innisfail) do celebrate this recovery.
This is a pic of some of our exotic fruits produced here in Innisfail ... an array of gorgeous colour .. and ever so delicious.
Abiu, Mangosteen, Persimmons, Papaya, Longan, Passionfruit, Mango, Melon, Banana, Avocado, Custard Apple, Coffee, Cocoa, Jacfruit, Black Sapote, Lime, Guava, Pummelo, Rambuatans, Durian, Five Corners, Tarot and Pineapple.
