Put my car in for a routine 120k service on Monday and was REALLY surprised when told that it needed a new radiator.
With no sign of any problem I questioned how come? Was told they pressure tested it and it was not good ... they make them of plastic these days and only last about 5 years.
Now ... did my little Celica REALLY have a problem with its radiator or did the mechanic put one over me. That .. I will never know.
Achieved!!
Walls can wait ... everything else done... Yeehaaah!
The sun is just peeking and I finished that shovelling. Spreading mulch is hard work so a lesson learned .. do not order a truck load again ... it takes weeks to shovel the stuff away!
Vicky thinks I am MAD .. "It's Saturday girl .. you are supposed to sleep in!" .. hence the pic.
It's weekend ... time to socialise .. have a good one won't you
Do any of you ladies go overboard like me ... start one job .. then another ... then another ... only to have 5 unfinished things on the go at once?
Grrr .. I get mad at myself. One thing Cherie ... you start one thing and then you FINISH it ... got it?
At the moment I have in process ..
1: Pack away my winter gear (for we REALLY don't have a winter) ... why I keep these clothes is beyond me! Well .. perhaps one day I will go visit a place that is cold ... Cough! Will I give them to charity ... ahhh .. yes... no ... undecided. So I have piles sitting while I am still deciding.
2: Wash the curtins ... but to me that seems to involve washing the walls .. why can't I just wash those CURTAINS .. so neither is finished.
3: Still have about 10 barrow loads of mulch to put out in the garden ... put a few out yesterday in Vicky's garden (the lady who owns the other cottage on the block) but got into cleaning it all up ... 3 hours later ... the mulch was STILL not put out!
4: Did the floor thing, vacumed and mopped ... but instead I HAD to get down on all fours and SCRUB them didn't I ... and I STILL need to do the bedrooms!!
5: Putting together stuff for charity ... bags of stuff neatly stacked ... BUT still not gone through ALL the cupboards!
Is this a disorder? Gosh I hope it isn't an age thing .. naaah .. we aren't really THAT old now are we .. just really matured adolescents.
So get back to work Cherie .. coffee break is over ... up you get ... go work up another sweat and finish SOMETHING!!!
Rembering the 3 easy steps to accomplishing something Cherie
Start ... Do... Finish!!
And don't forget that you have to go out and work ... so be organised huh?
Now celebrating at home with a friend after today's big brain strain
Tired ... red eyed ... swollen feet ... ruffled feathers .. but I DID it
AND ... still smiling!!
Yes!! A HUGE day .. and so so good to catch up with some ole friends I have not seen for nearly 10years .. now excuse me while I continue to celebrate.
After an 8 year break I am today going to try my hand (and brain) at penciling again.
Today is our big annual Race Day and I have been asked by my ole bookie to work. It seems with the introduction of computers at the racetrack there are not many of us ole folk left that can still pencil for a bookmaker manually. (Did it for 30 years previously)
Eric (the bookie) wants to run 2 stands .. one for the local races and one for the interstate city meets running 3 books for Brisbane, Sydney & Melbourne. And this is where he wants me to work ...on those 3 books. (He has a computer for the locals). It can be a hell of a lot of pressure but I USED to handle it well .... BUT .. can I still do it?? Hence I am anxious ..
800 to 100 each way .. 500 for the place ... a thousand on the nose ... those furious calls with people waving money in the air ... me yelling "what state", "straight out or eachway", "slow down!" .. those memories have been running through my mind all morning ..
My hands shall be cramped ... my head shall be pounding and my mind will be racing for hours after ... that I do remember well .. but how will the aging body cope. Am hoping it will be like riding a bike .. you just slide back into the swing of it all.
Long day too with daylight saving in the southern states .. first race at 10.15am and the last at 5.15pm .. all this time standing on an elevated platform in very limited space with ear phones attached.
By geez .. I AM nervous .. if anything .. that adrenalin will keep me going.
