Yesterday I revisted my place of birth ....

With the impending major heart surgery for my Dad only days away, I asked if they would visit my place of birth with me.

My parents ran what was a booming hotel back in the Fifties in a sugar town about 150klms south of where I  now live.  This is where they were married.

The hotel . when sold by my family  ... became very run down and was purchased 6years ago by a Melbourne couple who lovingly restored it to its original glory with it nowbeing hertiage listed .. and it became a tourist stopover destination.

The Italian tiles .. the gala function room . that antique and mostly original furniture ... the grandness of it all

It was a VERY emotional visit for me ... when we arrived I stood at the front of the beautiful entrance gardens and just stared .. it was more beautiful than the memories I had from the old photos my parents have.

The owners made us extemely welcome and allowed my parents to show me through the building.  We were served a welcoming morning tea after strolling through the acres of gardens and the top floor  .. BUT the best surprise was yet to come.

They then showed me what was my bedroom as a little girl.  THIS was truly overwhelming ... a beautiful little room with its two tone pink walls and the ceiling .. a magnificent hand painted masterpiece (in pink of course!)

A fabulous birthday present ... (she says with misty eyes).

I wish I could share all my photos .... but instead will share with what  mostly overwhelmed me .. my room.

Hello everyone ..

Wanted to share my happiness and my pride and joy.

Breakfast with Renee and those two gorgeous grandsons Jett and Dustin at their beach home.

Tenille joined us by phone from Sydney.

Life's simplest moments make me so happy.

Hope someone made you smile today too.

After brekkie, Renee and the kids came home to my place .. Yep .. was a real good day.

Yes ..

I met and had lunch with the wonderful Oracle and her hubbie today.

Haha ... she knew what I looked like but I had no idea who I was looking for.

We had a fabulous time ... coffee ... a walk along the board walk .. lunch over the marina ...

Yep ... it was fabulous.

Does make the idea of a o50 gathering seem such a wonderful idea.

And yes .. I got pics to remember the occasion.

Heading back up to Cairns on Saturday to go out for dinner with them.

Tonight ... Saturday night .. and I decided to listen to the Saturday night show on the radio.

Not only for the fabulous music from years gone by ... but I have listened to people from all Australia who have called in.  With tomorrow being Anzac day here .. I have heard many personal stories.

One ... has just really touched my heart ..  A man just rang in and he was sobbing ... He spoke of his brother ... and my heart sunk.  He was so emotional .... and now I am thinking.

I have lived a very priveliged life .. thanks to these men ...  I really have.
I didn't lose anyone to war ... but so many have.

A greedy human race make wars happen ... the cost ... normal family men who never came home

Here are the words of a song I loved and sung so often when young but it was not till tonight that the light swith went on ... shame Cherie!!

Sky Pilot

He blesses the boys as they stand in line
The smell of gun grease and the bayonets they shine
He's there to help them all that he can
To make them feel wanted he's a good holy man
Sky pilot.....sky pilot
How high can you fly
You'll never, never, never reach the sky

He smiles at the young soldiers
Tells them its all right
He knows of their fear in the forthcoming fight
Soon there'll be blood and many will die
Mothers and fathers back home they will cry
Sky pilot.....sky pilot
How high can you fly
You'll never, never, never reach the sky

He mumbles a prayer and it ends with a smile
The order is given
They move down the line
But he's still behind and he'll meditate
But it won't stop the bleeding or ease the hate
As the young men move out into the battle zone
He feels good, with God you're never alone
He feels tired and he lays on his bed
Hopes the men will find courage in the words that he said
Sky pilot.....sky Pilot
How high can you fly

You'll never, never, never reach the sky
You're soldiers of God you must understand
The fate of your country is in your young hands
May God give you strength
Do your job real well
If it all was worth it
Only time it will tell

In the morning they return
With tears in their eyes
The stench of death drifts up to the skies
A soldier so ill looks at the sky pilot
Remembers the words
"Thou shalt not kill"
Sky pilot.....sky pilot
How high can you fly
You never, never, never reach the sky

That wonderful Aussie spread ... Vegemite!!      Yeh .. right!!

Supposed to be eaten ... but more fun when you stick your finger in it ... draw pictures ....  or smear over the furniture ... even face paint with it!!

Dustin ... the vegemite disaster ... brought out his "artistic" side this morning at brekkie.

With those eyes of innocence ... nanny just melted ..  laughed out loud .. and  joined in his fun .. vegemite kisses!

Serving No2 .. Now Dustie ... please EAT this lot!

Gorgeous isn't he?

Hope your Easter break was great.
