"...a swirling mixture of earth tones and black and white, that to the untrained eye may appear as a splattered mess. His paintings have a certain harmony and are developed in such an enigmatic way that they are sure to hold some public interest for years to come." ~ David Klemencic
Okay, I consider myself to have a very trained eye for art (formal education as well as involvement in the arts for a lifetime) and while I can appreciate that Pollock was the first to drip paint all over a canvas and call it art, I hardly consider it to be the most coveted prize of all time.
I just read about this 140 million dollar painting today. I also read the Samaritan's Purse Christmas Catalog today...stark contrast. I'm not pointing fingers because the buyer may have enough money to save the world AND buy this painting. And, lord knows, we've all spent our money frivolously at times. But, wow.....just wow...the comparison speaks volumes to me.
