Here is a little information on our Vegas trip in September!!!    I hope you have made your reservations!!!

If not 'WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR????""""  :)

Las Vegas: Currency, Taxes & Transportation:

Currency Exchange - ATMs are everywhere and are the best method of obtaining U.S. currency, provided you have a banking card (with PIN) that can access one of the major banking systems. Cash advances via a credit card are also possible at most ATMs and at the Com-Cash machines that are found in some casinos, but be aware that the charges involved can be exorbitant.
There's a currency-exchange booth at the airport, and others can be found in town. Most major casinos will exchange some foreign currencies (check with the main cashier), but don't expect favorable rates. There's an American Express office in the lobby of the MGM Grand.

Taxes - Clark County sales tax is 7.75% and applies to all goods and services with the exceptions of food for home consumption and prescribed medical goods. Room tax is 9%.

Transportation - If you're planning to travel to out-of-town sights or to spend a lot of time in the less-touristy parts of the city, rent a car. Otherwise, use a combination of your feet, the Strip buses and trolleys, and taxis to get around. Walking the Strip is one of the quintessential experiences of Las Vegas the best way to see the astounding sights that line the street. Because of the daytime heat, try to explore the Strip at night when it's cooler and most active. You should also approach it in sections. The hotel-casinos stretch along the boulevard for miles/kilometers, and you'll no doubt do a lot of walking within each of the massive resorts. Avoid walking the section of Las Vegas Boulevard between the north end of the Strip and downtown: The area is relatively deserted, especially after dark.

Air - McCarran International Airport (LAS) is just east of the southern end of the Strip. Phone 702-261-5211 for general information, 702-261-4636 for flight information, 702-261-5121 for parking information. http://www.mccarran.com.

Connecting Transportation
Best way:
If you are traveling alone, a commercial shuttle will save you quite a bit over a taxi. One company offering the service is Bell Trans. Service to major hotels is continuous, though a shuttle won't depart until it is full or nearly full they won't leave with just a few people on board. Shuttles also stop at hotels up and down the Strip, so you may end up being on the shuttle for 30-45 minutes. To Strip hotels the cost is US$5, to downtown US$6.50. Advance reservations aren't necessary. The information booth (open 7:30 am-midnight) is adjacent to the luggage claim by the door marked No. 2. Phone 702-261-5874 for general information, 702-739-7990 for 24-hour service. http://www.bell-trans.com.

Other options:
Taxis line up at the designated cabstand adjacent to the luggage claim area. If you have two or more people in your party, a taxi is usually the best method to get into town. A ride to the south Strip takes five-10 minutes; to the north Strip can take 15-20. Taxis are metered. Expect to pay US$12-$18 to reach a Strip hotel, US$20-$25 to downtown. Though not a widespread practice, "long-hauling" (in which cabbies take longer routes than necessary to bump up their fares) does occur, so watch the meter and even ask how much the fare will be beforehand. From the airport, fares begin at US$4.40 and increase at US$1.80 per mile. In town, fares start at US$3.20 then it's US$1.80 per mile. Meters continue to run even while stopped in traffic, though at a slower rate.

CLS Las Vegas provides limo, town-car and van service 4:15 am-2 am. Prices are competitive with taxis. Phone 702-740-4545.

Citizens Area Transit (CAT) buses provide service to and from the airport, but if you're headed for the Strip, you'll have to transfer buses not a good prospect if you have luggage. Fares are US$2 adults, US$0.60 seniors and children.

Major car rental agencies have booths adjacent to the luggage claim. In late January 2007, a central rental car facility opened a five-minute shuttle ride from the airport.

Bus - Greyhound Bus Station
200 S. Main St. (next to Plaza Hotel), downtown, Las Vegas. Phone 702-384-9561. Toll-free 800-231-2222. http://www.greyhound.com.

Car - If you're confining your visit to the Strip and downtown, you won't need a car, and you will probably be better off without one. Traffic is horrendous along the Strip itself: Those who have to drive should quickly learn to use parallel streets (Industrial Road to the west and Paradise Road and Koval Lane to the east) to go north and south. In the rest of the city, there can be tie-ups, especially during rush hour. New roads and highways are being built, but the city's fast growth means that the roads are always playing catch-up with the ever-increasing number of vehicles.

Most Strip and downtown hotels offer free self-parking or valet parking, and both are available even if you're not staying at the hotel. Downtown hotels may require validation for free self-parking. Valet parking is always free, but a US$1-$2 tip is expected. The municipal, county and Fremont Street Experience parking garages are also available downtown. The Convention Center has a visitor parking area just one block off the Strip.

Public Transportation - The Las Vegas Monorail is a convenient but increasingly expensive way to see the Strip and avoid the traffic. The Strip Trolley is another useful means of public transit for visitors. The trolleys operate between the Stratosphere (north) and Mandalay Bay (south) and stop at major properties along Las Vegas Boulevard. In addition, several of the major hotel casinos are connected by free trams or other forms of transit, but these are limited systems that operate only between select properties (the Mirage and TI, for instance, and Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay). The Fremont Street Downtown Neighborhood Trolley serves downtown. Citizens Area Transit (CAT) buses run throughout the city.

Citizens Area Transit - Better known as CAT, Citizens Area Transit is the city's public bus system. Route 301 and a few others run 24 hours a day; others usually operate 5 am-1 am. Fare is US$1.25, except for Route 301, which originates on the Strip and costs US$2. The big news in Strip CAT transportation is the Deuces, a huge fleet of double-decker buses that cruise up and down day and night. The picture windows on the upper deck give front-seat passengers a panoramic view of the whole Strip extravaganza. All fares require exact change, tokens or passes. Transfers are free. Phone 702-228-7433 for schedule information.

Las Vegas Monorail - The Las Vegas Monorail opened for business in July 2004. It provides a convenient but not inexpensive way to travel the Strip. The monorail has stops at five stations behind the Strip hotels, as well as at the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Hilton on Paradise Road. Extensions are planned to downtown and the airport, but they're not imminent. The monorail runs Monday-Thursday 7 am-2 am, Friday-Sunday 7 am-3 am. Tickets are US$5 and are good for one entry; a US$35 ticket is good for 10 one-way trips and may be shared. A one-day pass can be bought for US$15 and is good for unlimited travel in any direction. Three-day passes are US$40. http://www.lvmonorail.com.

Strip Trolley - Runs along the main hotel/casino segment of Las Vegas Boulevard, between the Stratosphere (north) and Mandalay Bay (south). Trolleys run daily 9:30 am-1:30 am at roughly 15-minute intervals. US$1.75 (exact change required) one person, one way; day passes are US$5. Phone 702-382-1404.

Taxi - Order by phone or get a cab at the valet stations at major hotels. It's illegal for any public vehicle to stop in travel lanes in Clark County, so hailing a cab on the street may be difficult (although taxis can pull into the nearest public driveway). Taxis operate 24 hours, are metered and don't accept credit cards. Reputable companies include Whittlesea Blue Cab (phone 702-384-6111) and Yellow Checker Star Cab (phone 702-873-2005).

I have been thinking just how lucky I am!  I had a fall on Monday, I was on my way to work, and took a tumble, I stepped on a loose brick in my driveway; I guess with all the rain it had come loose.

So, when I stepped on it, my foot went one way and the brick went the other way.  My poor knee took the full force of the fall, and somehow I landed on my back, looking at the blue sky!  As I was lying there, all kinds of thoughts raced through my head, first praying I was not seriously hurt, but also taking inventory to see if anything was in pain, which thankfully it was not!  So now, I sit up and look at my bloody knee, and thought OMG, now what, well I get myself up and hobble back inside my home.  I clean and dressed it as best I could, so now I am thinking, oh no, I am going to have to change because I probably got my clothes all dirty, the strange thoughts that go through your head! LOL

Lucky, my clothes did not get dirty! LOL

Now for the reason I know I am one lucky person, there are no other scraps, cuts and only a very tiny bruise on my leg!  I realize I could have broken my knee cap, broken a hip or taken a blow to the head, but none of that happen, so I am counting my blessings and saying thank you to the man upstairs!

I applied ice, took an Advil and didn't miss a day of work!  Still it has been a very long time since I have had a "strawberry" on my knee, not since I was a kid playing baseball with my brothers!  HA HA HA

PS.  I am much better, my limping has improved!
