Just want to remind everyone again about the Vegas Trip!!

Hopefully all the great stuff Jim, aka Thumper, has been kind enough to post on his Blogs, has motivated you to want to join us in Sept!!!

Here is the information on the place, hotel and dates:

The meeting place is:              Las Vegas, NV
The date is:                            September 17 - 19, 2010
Hotel:                                      Stratosphere Casino Hotel & Tower
Price:                                      $72.00 single or double per night
Room tax:                                12%
Resort fee:                              $7.50 per room per night

Resort fee entitles you to the following:
*      Free admission and use fitness center
*      2 for price of 1 American Superstars
*      2 for price of 1 Night show tickets
*      Free unlimited admission to the Tower Viewing Decks during all
        normal viewing hours for up to four (4) people per room. 
*      Covers guest parking.

Check in time for arrivals is: 3:00 P.M and check out time for is: 11:00 A.M.

FOR RESERVATIONS:

All guests must call (800) 998-6937) to the Group Reservations Department.
PLEASE - reference the following: Over 50 Group with the following group code: OVER.  The Group Reservations Department is available Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Pacific Time and 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Reservations will be taken beginning April 28, 2010. A Credit Card will be required!

The first night's room deposit will be charged at that time to your credit card.  All guests will be responsible for their entire charges. 

PLEASE NOTE: After the cut-off date of August 1, 2010, all unused rooms will be released and reservations will be on a space availability basis and pricing may change.

VERY IMPORTANT:  Individual room cancellations may be received up to 48 hours prior to the arrival date WITHOUT PENALTY!!!!  Cancellations received within two days prior to arrival will result in forfeiture of room deposit as a penatly.

The picture on the right is the home where I grew up from the age of 6 yrs old!  My Dad was the Ranch Foreman for a large grower of figs, yes the fig Newton kind, actually the owner also grew peaches, oranges, and had grape vineyards as well.

I am the oldest of six children, three boys and three girls, course my sisters did not show up until much later, so I grew playing with my brothers, and since I was outnumbered, my games were marbles, GI Joe and little trucks! LOL  I also learned to play baseball, football, and dodge ball, or in my case, run faster than your brothers can throw the ball!!

My home, you really can't see it, is on the bottom of the picture, the rest of the buildings belong to the ranch, they were the sheds and warehouses were the fruit was sorted, to remove all debris, and then dried in these flatbeds in the hot California sun before being shipped.  If you notice the brown on the top, these are the figs being dried!

So many memories, birthdays, Fathers Day, Mothers Day, Christmas mornings, Thanksgivings, so many celebrations, so much laughter, and yes tears too, for no home is free of them!

I left my home at the very young age of 19 to join the Air Force, but I would return home as often as I could! 

My Dad and Mom retired, actually my Dad could no longer work, and he had developed an illness in his lungs from all the chemicals he had used to fumigate the figs!  So they retired to Mexico, but that is for another blog.

A couple of years later, by this time I was already living in New Jersey, my sister called to tell me the owner of the ranch had sold it to developers, with plans to built homes.  How do I explain the wave of emotions that flooded me, from shock, disbelief, extreme sadness, knowing the place I had always thought of as "home" would no longer be there, even though my parents no longer lived there, in my mind, it was home.

I realize life never stands still, people change, relationships break, new people come into your life, and home, well home is where you feel safe, loved, secure and welcomed!

I will post another blog to show what my old home looks like now..

But you know, I can look at this picture and remember my brothers, sisters and my parents...:)

I wanted to wish all the Moms, Mums, Momma's, Mommy's, and Grandmas, a wonderful, loving and doing nothing, Mother's Day!

It is our Mother's Day this Sunday, but I wanted to wish ALL the Moms in O50's

                      HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

A special note, a kind and loving thought for the Moms that have passed, I was remiss and did not include them in my original blog, so thank you to everyone who mentioned the Mom who are no longer with us in my blog.  Sweets
