There is a T.V. show that I have been watching recently which I thoroughly recommend called " The Insiders Guide to Happiness .  It's a New Zealand show.
It as been very thought provoking , so I thought I'd share some of my thoughts about Happiness with you .

What is Happiness?    Are we by nature happy?  Why do new born babies cry and not laugh?  What makes us happy ?  Why does one thing make one person happy but can make someone else sad?

Are we taught happiness by our parents? Is our happiness only a reflection of what our parents found to make them happy and by extension their parents etc etc ?  Somethings we do please one parent but not the other ..

Is male happiness different to female happiness?
A pair of fancy high heeled red shoes doesn't do anything for me .......But a good looking young woman in a pair would certainly improve my disposition .

How long does happiness last ?  We may laugh at something ...but the humour soon fades.  Only the memory of what made us happy lingers.

Is happiness just remembering when we were happy .?

Can we make ourselves happy .  If so ,  why dont we make ourselves happy all the time ?  Or do we need other people to make us happy .  I'm sure that I could sit here for hours and not be able to make myself happy ..But if I just thought about past happiness , that would cheer me up . But it is not the same is it ?  That's just remembering happiness.  It's just my mind reminding me what it felt like .

Are we naturally sad?  Being happy is a change in our disposition.
We never stay happy. We return to normal.. Which sort of means that we are normally not happy ...i.e.  sad

Would being happy all of the time be such a good thing ...We would never again feel that sensation of happiness that comes over us ..and it is a good feeling .

Sadness can make us happy.  I know that sounds contradictory but , we can be happy in our times of sadness. At the death of a loved one for instance . Now I'm not saying that death of some one is a time for laughter.  But I've seen people smile at funerals . So finding happiness in a time of sadness is sort of like a relief valve .. if you think this is strange ...how many weddings have you been to were tears accompanied the laughter . ....In a lot of countries , death is a cause for celebration .

Is happiness contagious? Does our being happy make others happy ..Can our happiness make others unhappy ? If they dont share the happiness does it make them sadder . When we are happy we want everyone to share in it . We broadcast it .  Being the only happy person in a group of saddies doesn't work .
Last thing we want when we are happy is to have a wet blanket hanging around ..Spoils everything .

When we are happy our inhibitions fall away ....we are more outward going .Less concerned with what others think of us . Just think, at a theatre we are prepared to laugh out loud ....no restraints .
Laugh and the world laughs with you .....cry ...and your on your own baby !
Sadness is more personal we keep it constrained

Funny how I started this of talking about happiness and somehow its come around to sadness.  What does that tell you ?  What's even stranger is ..I'm in a pretty good mood at the moment .  I shot a 69 at golf yesterday ( thats pretty good for the non golfers out there )  I won $520 on the pokie machines . About to go out for the night .  Life's good .

But now comes the kicker ....What makes you happy ???
