View Full Version : Chat Rooms
Repeated trips into the chat rooms in hopes of meeting some of the new members to invite them to take part in the discussions just isn't working.
No matter what time I go in, there is not one single person around. Where are all the new members hiding?
Come out, come out wherever you are! Your membership isn't going to do you any good if you don't jump in and take advantage of the hoardes of ancient knowledge we are prepared to share with all newcomers! :)
Where is everyone? Now that I've finally decided to try the chat rooms, I can't seem to find anyone there. So far I've tried morning noon and night. Can anyone give me an idea of when they are in use?:(

Tori, I haven't found anyone in the chat room in a year or more. Apparently it is defunct.
Quentin, that's extremely perplexing! Why would 3900 people visit in one day and many of them register, if there are no active chat rooms and there is little or no interest in the discussions? What else is there thats drawing them?
I have the strangest feeling that I'm missing out on something but I haven't a clue to what it is!

Tori, I just went into chat and found it empty. Almost immediately a lady from Wales dropped in and we chatted, then someone from Maine dropped in and it's obvious they are old friends. The Welsh lady tells me it gets very busy in there in the evenings. She goes in almost every evening - just not on Thursdays.
So it's not dead. She doesn't know about this board and I think she simply prefers to chat. Apparently most do; only a few want to contend with this board. They don't realize how soon we can get comfortable with even just a bit of it - we don't use everything available, but we still have fun.
Then I must simply be going in either too early or too late to catch anyone there. Soon the rest of the country will be off daylight saving time. That should make a difference.
Now that I know there are people in the chat rooms, I'll keep trying!
I have tried chat in the past but usually found it empty or the conversation inane when occupied. I tried it the other day and was told by the computer that I need a user name and password to enter/ I have never had a user name and password.
I e mailed the webmaster asking what goes and got no response.
Ted, your user name and password for the chat rooms is the same one you use for these discussions in overfifties.
The only time I'm asked for my user name and password is after I've deleted my cookies.
Chat rooms don't hold much interest for me either. My reason for going there is to tell the chatters about the discussions and invite them to join us! :)
I guess I have a user name and password from long ago but have not used it in years. I do not log off and so do not have to re-enter. I do not understand web managers not responding to my e mail regarding it. But it is no big deal, because I think you are right. Chat just is not interesting.
Since you are here and your user name is listed as Ted, we know that your user name is Ted!
Now all you have to do is remember your password. If you go to the chat room and log in as Ted and put in the wrong password; you should be provided with an option that says, "I forgot my password". Click on that.
If you haven't changed your email address it should automatically email your password to you.
Hope it works!

When I dropped into chat the other day and asked if the lady who came in just behind me if she ever posts, she had no idea what I was talking about.
So, Tori, keep going in and tell them to come read the forum and post! They don't know we're here!
