No danger here that I have come across. Just a few tart words.

Unstresst, we have ladies from all over the world, so possibly some from California. At the moment I cannot recall. I am a Michigan female. Previously from South Carolina.
Why not tell us about yourselves? DesertRose? Unstresst? What do you enjoy? What are your pet peeves?

Pets,-[all kinds]-garden,-[unskilled at it]--women-[the unnatatched variety]--kids, family....you get the idea.
pet peeves?? when somebody tells me not to report a wrongdoing/illegal activity.
And I'm always amazed by the level of idiocy many people display....

Unstresst, not sure I am following you correctly. Are you refering to "Unattached variety" of woemn as pets? LOL

Could you elaborate on your comment about not reporting illegal activities. Have you actually been asked to keep mum when the law has been broken? Puts one at a disadvantage.

These days there's always family or friends that would suffer if I were to report neighborhood problems--[racing quads on the sidewalks.....agressive dog runs loose alot....etc. etc]---

Unstresst, I would be "Stressed" if I had to tolerate racing quads on the sidewalks, agressive dog running loose, etc. Can you form a neighborhood watch group? There must be others who are equally bothered by such. You cannot allow thugs to make life miserable for an entire neighborhood. I feel blessed indeed to live in a senior park. A few years back, a few teenagers from the park next door began making trouble in our park until my guy went out and gave them to understand that he would set them to rights if they dared cause trouble. They never set foot here again.

neighborhood watch IS a nice Idea, but i'm fairly sure nobody else in the area would take a stand......the yo-yos that cause the nuisances are capable of retaliating......their parents would too.

Do the authorities ignore law breaking? I know you cannot run to the police every time someone threatens, but there must be a way to stand up to thugs. Someone must be the first to take a firm stand. Maybe it will be you?

Once upon a time we were dialing our neighborhood substation whenever the quads and dirtbikes were out racing up and down...........only one time did a cruiser ever show up while they were out racing.

As for that dog......Animal control has been here every time he's out.....last count is maybe 25 times ...........the owners still have the dog, the fence is still broke down.

Unstresst, what type neighborhood do you live in? Have the citizens no control over the elected officials? Do you have Town meetings or City meetings? Why not ask several of your neighbors to attend these meetings with you and complain to the elected officials.
Are you in a large city? Small town? Apartment complex? Have you considered moving to a more friendly atmosphere?
It sounds as if the young thugs have put fear into the locals. Not good to allow them the upper hand. I so hope this problem is solved soon.

People in this neighborhood are either: A: afraid to make waves for fear of retalation....or B: not wise enough to be that concerned about these things........if I went door to door I wouldn't get any action from folks

Is moving an option for you? I would be super depressed living in such circumstances.

Move?? no... can't do that.
Other than the 3 families that "enjoy" racing up and down, there really isn't anything else that is a problem........

I do have an idea now......I can post flyers telling folks if they are bothered or worred about the racing, they should call it in every time they hear/see it....maybe, just maybe that might spark something

I'm not ornery all the time. I am more like a...um...how to say it politely....."in-yer-face" kinda gal. But in a nice way. Sometimes. Kinda.

More like....hm....I calls 'em as I sees 'em. But someone here already has that name.

Sorta like...strong willed, which is a polite term of...well..you know.lol

Ornery, it appears that you are putting your "Worst foot forward." LOL It's as if you are warning all and sundry, "Be prepared for a disagreement because I speak my mind." I'm betting you are lots of fun and a great friend once we get to know you.

I am so sorry if I have not greeted you, I don't get on the computer as much as I would like and I do have a awful memory which gets me in bother.

There are not that many posters on here, a lot left when the forum was being upgraded or something folk got fed up and left, myself included for a good while.

I have just been going to the Topic "I need a new box" when I have had a few minutes to myself, as it been such good fun, its a made up story and reading your last post, I'm sure you would fit in just perfect.

In fact you remind me of another poster who was in the Drama at the beginning.

Please give us another chance, any animal lover/rescuer is a friend for life with me.:)

Ornery,

You yam who you yam, but in my book you are OK. Your best friends are furkids. My best friends are my furbabies. I truly understand.

Will write again. Stay Well and Be Happy.

Don't Take it to heart when a post goes ignored......just move on to a new spot.
It's a pretty common occurence.
--------

it may be that they are indeed snobs, or they may feel they are beneath your conversational skills-(inferior)
If there's nobody replyng to you, or about you there's no way to know which it is
--(this outlook also serves to keep one's attitude towards people on an upbeat level)--

I have been ignored on so many forums, i can't count.
--------------
We could take a poll........I'll bet we'd be surprised at how many of us have been ignored in forums before.
