PIP, at the top of the page, click on Blogs, about the fifth line down it says Click here to start one.
Then you will have a page where you can create your own blog. Good luck.

Eeileen, first, welcome to overfifties.
I can only imagine what it must be like to be - in your words - homebound. I am able to come and go as I please and thankful for that. However, I think this site is a great place for a person who cannot get out. You can meet people from all over the world and chat everyday. You will soon make friends who will be forever.
My best to you.

Hello Eeileen,

As Joyous mentioned we extend a warm welcome to you. You will find lots of friends here and the internet can become a rewarding experience if done correctly. Join in the posting fun here at Overfifities and soon you will become aquainted with many friends.

I wish the best for you. I know you probably have been through many trials in the past being homebound. That must be an awful feeling. God bless.

Hi pip!Try the chatroom and u will find people coming and going all day and most of the night. Sometimes there is no-one around, but rarely. You could read the blogs and discussions which I find a great time filler. It is very interesting to look through all these alternatives to chat. But do come and join us in the chatroom. Can be a lot of fun!

Hello all, I'm new to this site and have some idea how Pip feels as I don't get out much due to being agoraphobic. Is anyone here interested in genealogy. I've been surprised how much I've been able to find out about my family tree on the net. Any Eastenders or Life On Mars fans out there? Disco

Hello Disco,

Welcome to the forum.

Not an Eastenders fan but I love Dr Who and Life on Mars! Also made a start on my family tree and discovered relatives in Australia who have been able to provide me with my first ever photograph of my great grandparents.

Hello. I didn't know there were messages here for me. I thought it worked by notifying by email. Nice to hear from you all. Did you see any family resemblance in the photo Lyra? Did you watch the Dr.Who episode when Sam from Life on Mars was playing The Master?

Hello, Disco...in answer to your questions. I don't think I particularly look like my great grandparents but I could see that my granddad looked very much like his father.

Yes, I did see the Dr Who episode with 'Sam' in it and I have the Dr Who theme tune on my mobilie phone. lol I think DCI Gene Hunt is my favourite in Life of Mars! He could come and rescue me anyday.

Hello Lyra, I've got the Doctor Who theme on mine too. I think Hunt 's funny. He doesn't waste much time on being polite....! I just found a music teacher yesterday in my family tree and another one today. It seems to be a popular occupation amongst them. Another family line is full of coastguards/Navy men. How long have you been doing your tree. Have you tried Rootschat. It's free to register and the site members are very helpful.

Lyra

Disco, I am a member on Rootschat but have forgotten my password...I really should have written it down! I requested another password but for some reason or other not having any success, will try again. I have been doing the family tree on and off for the past couple of years. My mum's maiden name was a very uncommon one and the Australian relatives plus one in Manchester had already done the tree and gave me all the information on that side of the family. I have made a start on my dad's side and I really must phone my one remaining uncle and see what information I can get from him about my grandparents etc. and take it from there. I go through phases where I am all fired up to find things out then I have a little break from it.

Hello Lyra, When I registered on here, I came back to it the next day and couldn't remember my user name. I was so sure I'd remember it but I should've known better with a memory like mine. It gets me in so much trouble at home, especially the burnt saucepans..... I hope you manage to get back onto Rootschat. Genes Reunited is good too. I've met a few people on there who are descendants of people on my tree and that's just on the free membership. There are quite a lot of people listed on the matches section who must be related but I can't send messages to them unles they make contact first. I'll have to see about subscribing. I wish there was an easier alternative to credit cards. Having a ready made tree must have saved you a lot of work. . I sent away for the death certificate for my great great great grandfather (1848) a few days ago and the records office said they were busy due to the popularity of the programme Who Do You Think You Are. Good luck with your Dad's tree.

G'day from Aus, saspb999 !

Welcome to Fifties(and beyond).

Just a hint. Pip hasn't been sighted in this forum for over a year.
He/she may be in Overfifties Blogs or Chat.

Try venturing into either of those hallowed halls by hitting the blue 'Blogs' or 'Chat Room' buttons at the top of this page.

Always curious. Any story about the funny name ?
