~ JOYOUS ~
Please pray for Joyous. She emailed me to say she is still not doing well enough to post here very much. She has been a highly respected member here for years (one of the first) and was faithful to post a Daily Bible Verse. I'm sure you all have missed her here. She needed hospitalization and had a bad reaction to her meds. It scared her so much that she said she would never return to a hospital. She is still trying to recover and is suffering. During this her son also had surgery...please pray for strength, courage to be hospitalized if need be, wisdom for the doctors, and for her family.
~ THE PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD IS TO PROVIDE OUR OVERFIFTIES-MEMBERS-IN-NEED OUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT. FEEL FREE TO ADD YOUR OWN NAME OR THE NAME OF OTHERS. I ALSO ENCOURAGE THOSE MENTIONED TO PROVIDE UPDATES WHEN POSSIBLE AND ANSWERS TO PRAYERS ~
PLEASE NOTE: This PRAYER LIST will periodically take "take turns" with the DAILY BIBLE VERSE but can always be accessed by clicking on the Topic, "Feeling Spiritual?", and scrolling down.
Joyous is certainly so well respected & known that few here have not become aware of her gentle touch -
supporting her in prayer would never be a task.
Perhaps, as with Elijah & Elisha, Joyous is passing her mantle (temporarily)
to someone she knows can continue her good works.

Most Gracious Heavenly Father, YAHWEH, we come to You to ask that You send Your loving care to our Joyous. She has always been an inspiration to the members of Overfifities. We have missed her and we do not like hearing that she is still recovering from being sick this winter. We pray that You make her stronger and stronger each day. We also ask that You put Your arms around her son so that he will become well. We ask these things in the name of Your beloved Son Jesus, Christ.
Amen

Anna, thank you and all who pray for me. I appreciate your loving kindness so much. I am determined, with my LORD's care and all your prayers to stay as healthy as possible after I get these horrible drugs out of myy system.
You are all so very loved.
Now I am tired and need to rest.

Shar, I am so worried about Joyous. She has been my friend for almost 4 years now. I knew something must be wrong when I didn't see posts from her. She has been ill for several months now. She needs our prayers.
Welcome back to the forum. Hope your husband is doing much better now.

I just caught up on these precious posts. Thank you so very much for all the love you give me. You are loved in return. Below is a prayer request I got today from a lady I know in Tennessee. Please add Laura to your prayer list.
My sister Laura has just found out she has breast cancer. She meets with the surgeon tomorrow to find out when she will have the mastectomy. We are asking for all the prayers we can get.
Love Anita

Nashan, prayer sent up to our Father GOD.
Anna, Laura isn't my sister. She is Anita's sister and I knew then from years ago. Thank you for asking. I haven't heard yet, but will post when I do hear.
Yes, let's keep a running prayer list here.

Right, I think we should keep the prayer list going. I believe it pleases God when we pray for others.
As far as my reguest goes, I will be fine after today. This would have been hubby's 67th and I am just not dealing well with it this year for some reason. We have had a lot of rain in the past several days (13 inches) and I could not take flowers over to the graveside. The sun is shining brightly today and I will drive there and wade the mud I am sure. But it will make me feel better to place the silks in the vase.
Thank you everyone that is with me today.
Love,
Nashan

Thank you anna7. It will be 4 years come September so I should be over it by now. But......I don't think you can ever get over losing your childhood sweetheart. We had said our wedding vows 40 years prior to his death. Death sounds so final and I have said in the past he is only sleeping to wake up again someday.
On a brighter note this morning....the sun was shining all day yesterday with warmer temps. I placed silk flowers at the gravesite. And then I took my son to purchase a small tiller. We are thinking about out garden.
Now after all that, when I returned home I had a phone message that hubby's niece was in hospitial. Within a few hours, little Landon arrived weighing in at 7 pounds and 5 oz. Spring means newness that life goes on.
I am happy this morning. Mother and child are both doing fine. And so am I.
Thanks again for the prayers and comments.

Nashan, your faith is the best pathway to ease your pain. I know it doesn't fill the place your husband held, but knowing that he believed means you will see him on the other side of this place.
Sometimes a good cry helps too.
Congratulations on the new grand nephew! Thankfully both mother and child are in good health.

Request from Snowden:
"I am trying to get enough people to join me in praying for a real enemy. Islam. Can we get enough people here to pray at least once a day for the Holy Spirit to be poured out over Islam and that the Muslims, especially the fanatics who are killing our young men and women -- and anybody else who gets in their way -- especially for them to be converted? Will anybody here join me in that?"

 Trying to figure out how to drag a post from one thread to another. I think I did it!!!
Snowden, I appreciate your approach to Fred, aka Keith.
We must include Jasmine, along with Fred, in prayer.
I stand in agreement with each of you who pray, and to all of you corporately, in prayer for these individuals. I also stand in prayer agreement for Islamic radicals in particular, and for Muslims, and those bound in other religions and cults.
I thank God that He works in everyone's behalf, in advance.
To be aggressive, I sic the hounds of heaven on their heels, in Jesus' name, and I ask that God's workers cross their paths at the appropriate moments each day.
I bind their hearts and minds to God's heart, and mind, and I loose them all from all vain imaginations, vain arguments, adverse teachings, and blindness to God's love.
I thank the Holy Spirit for his entrance, his work, and for creating teachable hearts, both in ourselves and in those for whom we pray.
In the name and in the power of Jesus. Amen

Lord, help us not to generalize or presume that all Muslims are the same and help us remember that God loves each and every one of them. Give us a heart filled with love and compassion towards Muslims. We know that Allah is unknowable for them (because allah sets himself apart) and that they believe they can never have a relationship with him as a personal savior...so we ask that they will have a full revelation of the true God and His loving character.
We also know that they fear evil spirits and superstitions that control many aspects of their everyday lives. This fear reveals a heart cry and desperate need that can only be met in the person and authority of you, Lord Jesus. Open their eyes and their hearts that they may know your love and comfort and your faithfulness.
Great is thy faithfulness.... (click on this after the prayer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRT08LdEstw )
Teach them, Lord Jesus, that they don't need to do enough good deeds to outweigh the bad deeds in order to make it to paradise. Teach them that they are guaranteed salvation by grace...that it's a gift. We pray that the Muslims will be convicted of their sins because right now they don't know, nor do they understand the basis of forgiveness of sins and repentance.
We pray that they would experience your total forgiveness, Lord Jesus, and thus be able to forgive others. And, we also praying that they would know the assurance of salvation through Jesus, something Islam can never offer them.
Only you, Lord Jesus, can open blind eyes and soften hearts. Only you can bring true conviction of sin and create new life. Thank you for hearing our prayers. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Remember Snowden. Please pray for her husband Bob and for her.
My husband, Bob, is going to have surgery tomorrow for a hernia that caused him considerable pain earlier this month. He's 82½, diabetic,a bit of a heart problem, somewhat asthmatic and he's put down as an out patient. I'm to bring him home, groggy and sore and take care of him. Fortunately, our middle son will be with me, but even so, it is a bit of a challenge. Please pray 1) that the doctor can and will order him to remain overnightat the hospital, and 2) no matter how that goes, that the doctor will be guided by our Lord to do an excellent job and that we all recover. This is the same surgeon who operated on me last fall, and we do have confidence in him. Even so, your prayers are sought and will be greatlyappreciated. ~ Marianne

Yep.
DO pray that
(1) the doctor will keep him in hospital - regardless of the best interests of the patient - and/or other patients
and that
(2) the doctor, who might well be an atheist or an agnostic, is not offended by the suggestion that he needs guidance from "our lord" to do his job.
All the best - Snowy and long-suffering spouse.
Will remember you all in my prayers Joyous. Hugs................

Fred, I sigh.
Snowden and Joyous, Kd, I also will think of in prayer. I have just read all this today, not sure why I was lead here. ??
Don't let anyone kid you, prayer works, for anyone with the sincerity to do so.
I have had the surgury, it's not to bad. but then I was 42, not 82, still it is not a heavy duty one. Could always be worse. Look at all the positives...loving family, good Dr. you trust and have been guided to care for you. Loving son to help. Hubby will sleep, deep sleep and have some pain pills. Give him a couple of sleep days at the very least. Keep good thoughts, that is the most important thing. I am sure the doc wouldn't send him home if there were any reason not to. Trust what has been given you.
While we are at it let us pray for Fred, who seems to even want to bring his negativity even here.....I sigh.
Blessings all.

By all means, pray your little hearts out.
I DO admire your good intentions and I DO wish Snowy and her hubby well.
Who knows ? You may be right. I might be wrong.
Prayer MIGHT have some value other than positive thinking.
But the evidence is against it.
And I greatly doubt it.

Below is the latest report on Bob.
I want to thank you all for your prayers for Bob. He came throught the surgery -- not exactly with flying colors, but shivering and in pain. Still,it was successful. The hernia was a good bit larger than the doctor had thought, so he was in surgery longer than we expected. The surgeon had already put in for an overnight, and after the surgery he told me he was glad he had done so because of the size of the hernia. It's possible he will be overnight for a second night, unless he bounces back tomorrow. Thanks for the prayers. I appreciate them. Marianne

Today we brought Bob home, much stronger, in considerable pain, but just glad to be home and coping. perhaps your bible does-
my Bible states
"is any among you afflicted? - let him pray .... and the prayer of faith shall save the sick" James 5: 13 & 15
"and all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive"
. Matthew 21:22
"for when two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them" Matthew 18:20
when we gather & pray, I believe our Lord is waiting for us to come to Him,
& all your assaults & insidious doubt generators
(recall the 40 days in the wilderness?)
cannot nor shall not cause me to doubt God's words.

I wonder if it would be possible to set up a very basic IQ test as part of the site registration process.
Not to restrict the site to the intellectual elite (or I wouldn't make the grade)
but one which would at least ELIMINATE those with an IQ below, say, 50 ?
Then we will truly BE - the OVERFIFTIES.
And we will have solved the problem of these damned JWs.

Good for you, Joyous. I've been watching here for a few weeks since I joined and all I've seen is truly good people being chased off and no one taking a stand against those doing the chasing. I haven't wanted to join in since my first post in the "Herbs" thread. It's deteriorated here to only a handful left. A very dismal site now. The one or two here who are postive, unfortunately, stroke the egos of the perpetrators...that disgusts me because it only encourages them to continue to hurt others.
So it's very refreshing to read your post, Joyous. I'm probably not going to stick around. I've been waiting to see if the good people would return but then why would they want to.
I just wanted to compliment your post. I prayed for Bob and Marianne and thanked the good Lord for the positive update.
so - you two - "who me?" - yes Fred 'n bear - is this the result you are seeking?
I can hear your response - "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen"
well unfortunately the acidity seems to flow from room to room -
could you perhaps set up a thread called "venom & wit - enter at your peril"
& confine your unpleasantness to that spot?
Hard call I know, but in the light of the previous comment -
a little consideration?

I offered fred the "Olive Branch" one time and all that happened he came on stronger. Some stuff is funny, but only a couple of nutters like fred and I can see the funny side of it.
I do not want to be friends with fred, no siree! but you must be sick of it, although I have not heard anyone complain MUCH!
I guess it takes one or the other to stop, but fred can't do that. He is hell bent on hate and bile. That leaves me...No more.
About prayers, Oth, and if they are heard by God. Let me clarify my statement about God not coming to this forum.
In Proverbs 15:29 it is said "Prayers of the righteous He hears".
There is that much unrighteousness in these forums, and indeed on the entire WWW that I doubt that God would frequent such a place. God, Jehovah, could choose to 'not know' this place exists, just as He chose not to know what the outcome of Adam and Eve would be.
Without saying which beleif is the 'righteous' one, it would appear that God does not choose to hear all prayers.
You and others accuse me of negativity, I feel that the Bible has the most positive comments of all, and that is where I was coming from.

I apologize, joyous, apparently I read you wrong. And, oth, you missed the mark. I wasn't referring to Blackbear. He seems to only have one target and he hasn't chased him off. His rude and crude remarks are painfully repetitive and uninteresting but he never tried to run any of the good people off like the rest have done as I see it. Males and females alike are guilty (notice I did not say ladies and gentlemen).
I appreciate what you say, Dawson, it even becomes painfully repetitive to me, and I get totally bored with it. I have decided to stop the retorts, as that is what they are. I do not fire the first shot. but I fire back accurately, most times. That is over and a good exercise for me to try some tolerance under duress.
Stay around and keep me on target, Please.

There are many lovely ladies here but two were run off, or was that 3, I lost count. Pooky's post above is a good example of why new members don't want to stay. I have said very little here and her first comment to me casts suspicion and a challenge. I won't be drawn in.
I am going offline now but do take care.

Hi Dawson, others.
Well I am a lady, period, outspoken, truthful and a loudmouth at times. A lady (to me) is someone who has morals, limits and boundries.
I came back today to say something to or about Fred and Bear. Fred has all the girls sticking up for him, which, like Anna, I cannot understand. Anna also liked B bear, which I cannot understand.( oh, it just dawned on me, BB went after Fred, ah hah) Anna was very much on the side of ncjohn, whom all of you liked and I told off, because he got personal in public and really crossed a line.
Suspicious? yes we are, sometimes with reason, sometimes not. I like to trust to start with, then go from there. You felt sorry for some who are 'gone' whom you thought were nice ? I doubt they are 'gone'. There were addiction problems.
I have never tried to run anyone off. I have always fought for the freedom of speech, and freedom of religious belief. Even the Jehovah I will no longer say anything against. In the "END" we are all in the same boat.
I have also always spoke my mind and told the truth (albeit as I perceive it, but truth none the less).
I was going to post some comments from Fred and BB but why bother, I know what I want to say and no need to keep posting "quotes" all over when we all know how to read and what was said...pretty much.
Fred , religion aside even, "I feel" it was very disrespectful of you to come in with your sarcastic, caustic remarks when a few women were serious and doing prayer. Some one dear to them was in serious trouble. You had no where else on this site to go to vent or say something, whatever you wanted to get across at that time ? It couldn't wait ??? Being non religious, why would or do you seek out a "spiritual" site ? To make sure we are HEARING YOU and your views ? There are a few things I agree with you on, but you go about things in such a spiteful, hateful, anger filled way. I think the women stick up for you because it is our inate nature to "fix men". God help us. Should there be something wrong...men need to learn to fix themselves. I have no problem with letting go the niceness I tried to show you both once upon a time. Tom Jones did a song didn't he about the woman who took the snake in to put it by the fire to warm it up and save it's life ? Then the snake bit her, because after all....it was a snake. Now I am laughing, that is just an example...not a put down by any means.
Black bear, why would you also choose to follow him "in here". To me it was like walking in on a prayer meeting and yelling and shouting obsenities and disrupting something quiet and peaceful to start a fight with someone you dislike, who shouldn't have been here either. Should have kept their silence at the least. You know what moms say..."if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". Course we don't all follow that. Human. Now I am here, less than spiritual, and Oth and Dawson, same thing, adding another less than spiritual comment.
I still don't understand why a couple of you feel the need to come to this site to put your views against. Can't we have just one site, this is after all a thread called "spiritual". Can we not respect that and leave it at that. If we don't have this site to gather and pray online with the friends here, then where are we to go ? Can't you naysayers find somewhere else to disrupt ? Email other people ? There just seems there has to be a better way. There should be a "safe harbour" for us. I wonder how many threads and blogs there are on here really, to express our opinion ? Seems there should be enough to spread out ? I don't know. I had some really spirtual nice things written and hit the key to check out Dawsons profile and lost the edit I was doing. Must not have been meant to be. About the profile...interesting...if I were to invent a mans profile, looks, body and finances aside, that would just about be the profile I would write. Everything I hold dear and enjoy. You are probably a sensible person Dawson. Stay if you can have the patience and time, but I also understand if you don't. I so understand.(That last section is so very seperate from the theme...daydreaming to the music I have on). Back to business at hand....
You know just because we have rights and freedoms, doesn't mean we should abuse that privilage and neglect the rights of others, or constantly be disrepectful. I have done my share and have stated more than once I am trying to change my thinking and not let others get under my skin and use them as an excuse for my own bad behavior. No blaming someone else for our behavior. I will look for a better tommorrow.
I am not the person today.....I was yesterday

I second that oth!
This site is full of wonderful ladies that have great senses of humor and are kind and caring people.
Anyone that can't see that will be having trouble with relationships all over the net AND in real life.
Mr Dawson, if you really are new here, how about coming to the chat room. There you will be able to interact in real time and see for yourself the fun we have..

I must disagree with you as well, Dawson. People have their own ideas on what makes a woman a lady. My own definition of a lady is someone who would not intentionally hurt or offend anyone or anything. There are many such women on this site, very definitely including Pooky56. I won't make a list because I'd be bound to miss someone out. Just off-hand, I can't think of anyone still here who shouldn't be on the list. For a woman to express her opinions robustly doesn't necessarily disqualify her from being called a lady.

Dawson - so sorry you can only see two "lovely" ladies in here, when in fact most of them qualify! There is nothing in what pooky posted that should cause anyone to leave. Your comment about booboo says a lot about you: he never tried to run any of the good people off like the rest have done as I see it.. Since he has been trying to run me off since the day I first posted here, I gather I am not one of the "good people" in your eyes. He does his best to irritate anyone who does not subscribe to his religion - the only purpose I can see for that behavior is to either "run them off" or get them to respond in kind and be banned from the forum.
BTW, I find most of the men in this forum to be gentlemen - there are a couple of exceptions, whom I will not name as most know who they are
Sorry to have intruded on this "prayer" thread - but I found Dawson's post insulting to all of the ladies and gents who post their opinions here. Having said what I wanted to say, I will not be opening this thread again.
Let's let this thread go back to being a "prayer list" - instead of a place to denigrate anyone who's spiritual outlook differs from those doing the praying.

Again...and I will start, as Pooks, Cherie, Joyous had mentioned, PJ lost his mum and he had cared for her dearly and with his heart and soul. I would ask us all yet again to recognize his loss and be respectful of that. Those who would like to offer prayers, should be allowed to do so. Should you not be a person of prayers, then please at the least offer some thoughts of your concern for his loss. Sympathy and empathy are not out of line or religious or spiritual. Should you have nothing to offer in that line of thinking, then silence is golden, or could be.
So here is to you PJ, may your sorrows be short and your memories of a loving mother be long. May your God comfort you and watch over you and answer your prayers. I know you were a good son and she knew that quite well. May she rest in peace...knowing she was well loved.
None of us can know what another goes through in these times, they are so personal, but you have my hearts felt sympathy for your loss.

Isn't it strange of human nature, the twisitng of sentiment and the contradictions of debate.
We see in these posts comments like "lovely Ladies" or If a woman "robustly gives her opinion", these things seem sacrosanct, and yet Dawson expresses an opinion and he is the devil incarnate.
There is a lot of lovely ladies, but like all humans of the feminine type, lovely ladies do have a sharp tongue, and I do not feel inclined to subscribe to their comments and accept them because they are assumed to be "lovely ladies".
I would love the right to express my beliefs and opinion without being called a nutcase or something worse, like Jasmine and fred do at the first opportunity...In a not so subtle way of "these people are nutcases" or "they are liars" or any such insult that can be inferred. This way the likes of fred and jasmine can say we never called 'him' any names like he does us"...thus creating the twist of debate...Very clever they are in this regard, it is a professional effort to infuriate someone, and with me it really doesn't work, I just say what I feel...I give a "Robust oppinion" because I am a lovely bloke.
Now, Jasmine, you tried to get inot another forum and your URL showed up as the same as the one I suggested you were in another forum...You said you pass on my remarks and you have a good laugh...Well either you are a split personallity or...She walks like a duck, she talks like a duck. She looks like a duck...what is she????
I am not trying to run you off, but life is much better when you and fred have me on ignore.
Every time I post something you say we want proof, well lady not so lovely, where is the proof. Am I expected to just beleive what ever you say?

Fred, lay off the Jehovah's Witnesses. This site is an open site and selecting one belief to cast out is not allowed.
Oh no, Joyous. If they were indeed 'cast out', what would I do for sport ?
Mate, the ONLY reason I get into the JWs is because of their attitude and malevolence.
IF Adventists or Mormons or Catholics (or whoever) acted with the same arrogance and aggression and contempt that the JWs do here,
you can bet your sweet bippy I'd take them on too.
But you and I know that those others would never behave like that.
Remember those immortal words of OneSG echoed by Blackbear and their ilk.
If you do not conform to JW dogma,
you are a PAGAN who indulges in DISGUSTING PRACTICES.
I simply don't believe that Joyous,

All of us know Snowden. This is from her and I ask that we also pray for her because as Bob's mate, she needs it.
My husband, Bob, has a test this afternoon to see if there is a tumor on his adrenal gland -- I think that's what it's called. There is somethingthere. The surgeon who operated on his hernia last month found it.Please pray that it is nothing serious. Also, on Friday, he has a test for his bladder/urinary tract. The problemthere, besides an enlarged prostate, could be the diabetes he suffers from. Please pray this is not a serious problem for him.

From our dear Snowden.
I have a nasty case of cellulitis in my right ankle. I thought is was a broken bone, because the pain was slight in the morninglast Thursday and was increasing, along with swelling, all day. Bob came home from the hospital Thursday afternoon -- he'd had pneumonia -- and I figured on taking care of him. That evening we had to call 911 for me and I spent hours in ER with antibiotics going in by IV. It has lost some of the fever, but it'sstill very swollen and extremely painful. Your prayers would be most welcome.
