Some of you are for and some are against the editing of posts. I just spent some time going back to older threads to edit out my stuff. It brings back to many haunting memories to proceed with the editing. I learned something by going back. Some people here are never going to change. They continue to want to harm others by their remarks. Perhaps they think I have said some harmful remarks too. If that is the case I believe the admin should delete the older threads. Otherwise I am not going to delete anymore than I already have for now. TOO DEPRESSING TO VIEW WHAT SOME OF US HAVE SAID.

I agree. I can't imagine family members seeing some of the stuff that's posted by certain members. They could see a side of a parent, sibling, friend that they've never seen before. That's why I'd advise some people to delete their posts after a period of time. It's because you nevvvver know.

Listening to what others have to offer is helpful but ultimately it comes down to doing what you feel is right for you.
What happened yesterday two months ago or any time in the past is gone. What happens tomorrow you won't know until tomorrow. Once you enjoy everyday, the same day, is when you will really be free of negativity in your life.
Sure there are times when life is stressful. When you recognize that you are stressed, there is a simple yet useful tool for relieving that stress.
Ask yourself. Do I have a way to control whatever?
If you do, then you do what it takes.
In this case you can't control what others write or offend with so you chose to do what you can control. You chose to stop going back to what offended you.
You have the control now and can go forward in what makes you happy. Congratulations.

A fact only in your mind, Fred!
On the flip side, I do agree about posts remaining. I enjoy reviewing some of the old ones.
Have a great weekend, Crabby!

I believe that reasons for editing out old posts (mine for example) as most know, I said some possible hurtful things to some (the truth does hurt to come out but it has to come out). Perhaps there will be those who can understand why I said what I said. Anyway going back to edit them proves time consuming so I will just leave the remainder there for now. The forum may grow so large that it may decide to take out the older threads. In some forums you can do what is called prune the threads. A timer is set for so many months or days after that time if the threads have had no new posts they will begin to delete automatically. This can be good or bad and the admin controls the time options. I am not sure what happens in OF. I do know there are threads here from 2003 that can be read.
To Uncle Fred's remark.....he just does not like America. And yet he wanted to come over last year. That sure puzzles me as to why.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Freddie won't come here to the USA.. He's afraid of us.
His forte is to sit in some ramshackle hut behind locked doors so the "bad guys" can't hurt him and post his poison about the United States of America..The land that we love.

All bullys are cowards..It's easy to lash out at girls..
I invite him to come here for a visit. He can stay at my home.
We will travel hundreds of miles and see a beautiful land with great people that are always willing to help a stranger.
We'll see Niagara Falls, we'll see the best shows in the world in New York City, we'll see the Grand Canyon and the Painted Desert, we'll eat the best food money can buy in New Oleans.
I will protect him from the murderers that fill his little mind with fear.
Take my offer Freddie - Come out from behind your couch and experience life here in MY country.

Not true:
New here and just reading a bit, but couldn't get past this one.
It seems that the U.S. is charged with all the evils, real or imagined, from the falling price of meat in France to AIDS in Africa and global warming everywhere. Maybe it is time that people and countries accepted responsibility for their own actions.
The U.S. is one of the best countries in the world, warts and all, if you could get past your obvious hatred and and anti U.S. phobia you might get past your hate and see through it.
Somebody on a news program summed it a few years ago.
#1 If we're so greedy, why do you crave our money?
#2 If our culture's so base, why do you seek out our movies?
# 3 If our people are so tacky, why do you hunger for our tourism?
#4 If our people are so stupid, why do your people seek out our universities?
#5 If we're so backwards, why do you buy our computers?
# 6 f we're so unconcerned about the world, why did we commit $15 billion to wipe out AIDS in this world?
#7 And if we're so selfish, why are we always there when you need us?
When did refugees from other countries climb into rickety boats, risking life and limb to come to your country, they risk their lives regularly to get to the U.S.

Hi everyone,
When I was over on the East Coast last autumn, I felt very at home (despite the fact you still drive on the right!! - LOL). Some things were very familiar (weather in farenheit, thank goodness, so I could understand it - can't be bothered with this European celsius thing!) and some things were quite different, but not different enough to feel "foreign", if you see what I mean! Am planning another trip next year.
I agree with Gardenia - many of those anti-US people in the Middle East, when asked where they would like to go to live in the West, say the US!!
It must be an envy/love/hate thing.

Let's face it, though, Gardenia, The U.S. has a long history of backing right-wing, oppressive regimes, notably in Central and South America.

In response to Louie (Posting No.11), I wouldn't say that Fred is a bully, but simply a debunker of myths. He does go over the top a bit, but he has a good heart. Louie is a very nice chap, but he's missing the point about Louie. If everyone approached him as Joyous and Snowden do, there'd be no problem.

...and, fairie, be sure to swing by north carolina for some southern hospitality! Try the spring season this time with all the azaleas (early april is the Azalea Festival near the shore), cherry blossoms, daffodils, and crepe myrtle. Then we'll paint the town red!

It sounds wonderful! Last year we were supposed to go up to New Hampshire for a few days to see the autumnal colours, but we couldn't fit it into our itinerary(plus it was dependent on my family driving us, and they had just driven all the way back from their usual summer break there). However, due to the heat I am sure the trees would have been suffering like those in the Philly area, the leaves were changing colour but seemed to be curling up and dying almost at the same time.
I am sure all the spring flowers must be looking really great. What is crepe myrtle? Does it have crepey leaves? Our cherry blossoms are just coming out - it has been rather cold and rain is promised for the weekend, yet again! I am praying the Gulf stream doesn't change course again this year!! I want some sun! Perhaps I should wave my wand?

Perhaps it is because they are anti-US being in their country and possibly anti-US government - instead of anti-everything American? There are lots of Americans who are anti-war/occupation and anti-current government. Doesn't mean we don't like our fellow Americans or think this isn't the best place in the world to live.......

Sure there can, dan. The best place on earth for you to live and the best place on earth for me to live... LOL.. I have seen your part of the world and agree that it is really beautiful and picturesque and of course we have nothing man made here that comes close to being as old as some of the buildings and bridges over there.
But, on the other hand, this area is the perfect spot for me. The weather is great, the valley is surrounded by beautiful mountains, the Pacific is near by and for really old things - we have the redwoods and sequoias just 10 minutes away - some of them have been estimated to be 2500 year old.

I must confess, Jasmine, that when I see scenes of that Pacific coast I yearn to be there. However, if you Google "Home Thoughts From Abroad" and read the poem of that name by Robert Browning, you'll get some idea of how we feel about England. You'll love it!
