I'm having problems logging in and/or can't post
|
It is important to understand that in this day and age, different
computers, bowsers, internet connections and browser settings all can
contribute to problems using overfifties.com
It's a process of elimination, certainly if you ask us for help we will need as much detail as possible.
Note: Browser is a term used to describe the program you use to 'surf the web' e.g. Interent Explorer or Firefox
Are you typing in your details correctly?
Firstly check you are typing your username and password EXACTLY as they appeared on the email from overfifties.com (capitalization matters). The most commen mistake is people not being exact as to what they type in. On computers if you leave out a '.' or '/' or type 'g' instead of 'G', things just wont work.
Lost your username and password?
If your not sure of your username and password then click the 'Forgot password'
link in the middle of the homepage. You will be asked for your username
and email address, (make sure you put in exactly the same username as
you normally use (capitalization matters) and enter the exact email
address that you used to sign up with. Your details will then be
automatically sent to that email address as long as it matches whats on
our records.
Are you an AOL user?
AOL users have been known to have extra hassles logging in due to the way AOL interent works.
Cookie problems?
Check your cookie settings, if you are using Internet Explorer, go to 'Internet Options' by clicking 'Tools' in the main menu, and
click the 'Privacy' tab across the top. The slider must be set to 'Medium High' or lower. If it says 'Custom', click the 'Default' button to reset the slider.
Sometimes users will have trouble logging in or they appear logged in but can't post in the discussion board. This quite often is no fault of the overfifties.com website but may be related to your browsers 'cookies'. Internet Explorer.
Are you using Dial-up or Broadband
Dial up connections will sometimes drop-out while you are typing a long story or information into this site, nothing we can do about this one unfortunately except suggest you upgrade to broadband. You may just have to keep using the 'Problems logging in' page.
Need more help?
Report your problem to overfifties, we will look at it and will try to fix the problem. We want to make this site easier to use. Click here to submit details. It may take up to 7 days or so for us to address issues.
Try this if you think it's your browser
You might want to download a new FREE browser. There is a free browser which is very good, called Firefox. Go to
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
Its a free download.
All else has failed?
You might need to speak to a computer guy to find out if anything is wrong with your browser, computer, internet connection or internet settings.

Do you believe you are being slandered or can you see abuse? |
What to do: - It will be reviewed and dealt with
• Report it via the 'report as advertising or abuse' link.
• To add someone to your 'ignore list' just click the 'add to my ignore list' link at the top of an email or wink they have sent you.
• If you are in the chat room click on their name then choose 'Ignore'
• Don't be tempted to respond, just ignore them.
What not to do: - This will get you deactivated too.
• Respond with a harsh rebuke
• Complain about the lack of monitoring on this site
• Start a rebellion and get others upset
In
order for the administrators to see clearly who is the trouble maker,
stay out of any arguments. If it becomes a 2 sided abuse session then
both parties will be de-activated no questions asked. Don't be tempted
to let your reaction become worse than the original attack!

Is there anyway of stopping people coming in under different names causing trouble?
|
The website requires every new person to have a new email address, so someone wishing to come in under different names must have and keep track of multiple emails. This is the only system that will slow these people down. If you see abuse, please report it and our staff can look at it.
