For Hamish, "Coat of sorrow"
BY
D. Bowka
I wore a coat of sorrow
It was a perfect fit
It soaked so many teardrops
My feet; I couldn't lift.
I had a coat of sorrow
And pulled it close and tight
To hide the guilt and shame
Such ugliness from sight.
It's just a coat of armour
To keep the world at bay
From prying eyes and pitying stares
No one knows just what to say.
You understand my son
It serves no useful gain
Bitterness breeds dysfunction
Your memory still remains.
