| | Beautiful Gray
When your hair has turned to gray
from gold
One day when we have both grown old
When time has past and
years have gone
Another new era for us will dawn
You hair will be gray and
cheeks gone pale
My eyes may be dim and the old bones frail
Your frame may
be stooped and you use a cane
It may hurt to stand and you may be in
pain
The old brain may be slow and thoughts won’t go
But when I look at
you, the same girl I know
That held me close way back when we were
young
That held my hand on the swing as we swung
The golden curls flowing
down your back
The blue of you eyes made my knees go slack
| |
And as we waltzed all around the floor
I was the envied by many and many more
You in your gown of golden starlight
Me in my gold tie and jacket of
white
That was a picture we made so long ago
The night was alive and we
were aglow
We were so young a whole life ahead
Eyes all a sparkle and your
lips so red
No gray in our hair no lines on our face
Maybe today others
may see a trace
But my darling we will always remain
As that young couple
then are still the same
All though many years have come and past
That same
sweet love will always last
