Surely you are not seriously talking about the senator who claims to be a democrat but is so far right he's nearly off the scale??

He changes his politics like some change their socks. As recent as March, 2001, Miller referred to John Kerry as "one of this nation's authentic heroes, one of this party's best-known and greatest leaders- and a good friend." Miller also was quoted as saying that Kerry, "has worked to strengthen our military" as recently as 2001. All of this directly contrasts Miller's misrepresentations and outright lies about Kerry during the republican convention of 2004, when he decided to back his friend GWB.

Before GWB became a contender, Miller had this to say:about republicans “I am a Democrat because we are the party of hope. For 12 dark years the Republicans have dealt in cynicism and skepticism. They've mastered the art of division and diversion, and they have robbed us of our hope"(1992)

Just two years ago, Miller expressed support for the creation of a 9/11 commission with "far-reaching powers," one that will deliver a "full and complete accounting of the circumstances surrounding the attacks." But last week, he took to the Senate floor to blast Richard Clarke and declare that the Commission will "energize our enemies and demoralize our troops." Miller went on to accuse the President's critics of treason.

He is also an intolerant bigot who sounds like a raving maniac sometimes. In a February speech on the Senate floor, Miller blamed "the culture of far left
America" for the Super Bowl halftime show, "brought to us courtesy of …the pagan temple of Viacom-Babylon." Kid Rock and his "bony butt," Miller thundered, "should be tarred and feathered and ridden out of this country on a rail."

At his very worst, Miller descends into self-parody, sounding like your slightly unhinged elderly uncle crotchety, reactionary and provincial. Crazy Uncle Zell rants about "this rap crap" and "soft-belly peaceniks." He endorses corporal punishment and drug testing for middle schoolers. He believes that convicted child molesters ought to have a microchip tracer implanted in their bodies and that we should "send illegal aliens back to where they came from."

He's a self-styled spending hawk, but he was an "Aye" vote on the Medicare bill, which will drain the treasury to the tune of $395 billion...no wait, make that $534 billion. He's a welfare reform hardliner, bemoaning the something-for-nothing entitlement culture.

But no such austerity when it comes to farm subsidies and especially the multibillion peanut program, a generous helping of Georgia pork. He was a co-sponsor Bush's tax cuts in 2001 and 2003 (Tax cuts for the wealthy and the big corporations, that is)

Miller is posing as a straight-talking, McCain-style maverick. But he's an aggressive Republican partisan who keeps the "D" in parentheses next to his name because he knows that the media lavish attention on no one more than party heretics.

If it's an anti-choice, anti-gun control, pro-ANWR drilling, pro-Federal Marriage Amendment party that Zell Miller wishes to be a part of, then there's one that suits him perfectly. And responsible progressives ought not to worry about Zell Miller switching parties; they ought to insist on it.

This man is not even close to being either a “conservative democrats
 or a “moderate republicans

When I saw this picture of Zell Miller giving his invective at the RNC, I knew it reminded me of someone. I just couldn't place it until I realized it was the hate in Zell's eyes, his skin and the way it looks like that hate is eating his soul.

So, is Zell Miller really the Evil Emperor of the RNC? That's giving him too much credit. But, he sure looks he could play him in the remake

Miller is just another politician who has convinced some that he is a fighter for justice, truth, the American way no wait that would be superman wouldn't it
